Participant Agreement
As a participant in TRIO – Student Support Services, I understand that using the services offered, including program activities and advising will provide me with opportunities for academic success at Seattle Central College. I have read and understand the following program requirements and agree to adhere to them:
- I will utilize the resources and participate in a minimum of one TRIO activity each quarter. Participation options include attending a TRIO sponsored event (university transfer workshop, awards celebration, activity, etc.), studying in the computer lab, using TRIO tutoring services, transfer preparation, meeting with career service staff, assistance.
- I will participate in one financial literacy workshop while in the TRIO Program.
- I am required and will meet with my advisor at least once per quarter, either in person or virtually. This is critical in supporting and advancing my success as a student.
- I will develop an individual Education Plan with my program advisor, and will follow that Plan. I am responsible for contacting my advisor if I want to update my Ed Plan, or to change my major or program.
- I will maintain regular, on-going communication with my advisor via email, phone, or appointments. This includes any decision to take a break from enrollment; transferring from Seattle Central to a different school; any change in my personal contact information; needing to cancel or reschedule an appointment; or when any difficulties arise.
- There will be an attendance check in Week 1 of each quarter. I agree to respond to any inquiry from my TRIO advisor about class attendance. Additionally there will be a mid-quarter progress check each quarter. I agree to meet with TRIO staff if this progress check indicates a need for additional academic assistance.
- I must talk with my advisor prior to withdrawing from a course so that all possible assistance can be given in advance, and to receive information about how withdrawal will affect academic and financial aid records.
- I will conduct myself in a manner beneficial to my academic success and of my peers. Disruptive behavior or behavior deemed by the TRIO staff to be inconsistent with the program’s mission may result in termination of my involvement in TRIO.
- I understand that if I pose a threat to myself or others (or express the intention to harm myself or others), my TRIO advisor/counselor will be required to contact Campus Security or 911. The program’s greatest concern is the health and safety of myself and my fellow students.
- I will submit all required information when checking out equipment from TRIO (test preparation books, calculators, etc.)
- I will regularly check my email for messages from TRIO, and will refer to the TRIO Canvas site for important information and announcements e.g. scholarships, financial aid, workshops, various deadlines.
- I understand that the TRIO staff are here to help me succeed in my college goals and that we will work together to accomplish these goals.
- I understand that if I do not meet these requirements and fulfill my academic goals, it may result in loss of eligibility for continuing services and my deactivation from the TRIO SSS Program.
